Baby won't drink milk 2

This series started in December 2023, and this month marks exactly one year.
We are very happy and deeply grateful that a total of 37,000 people have viewed the exhibition during that time.
Regarding the content of the series, I wrote at random about cases that occur during pregnancy and about two years after delivery from my perspective as a midwife, but I found that the number of views varied considerably depending on the content.
The following are the top three results of the most read content.

3rd place、#11 Regurgitation of milk by a baby

2nd place、#08 Baby crying

1st place、#09 Baby won't drink milk

So, I will look at the next three sessions from a different angle.

For 40 years, this has always been your number one concern. Why won't you take it?

For 40 years, this concern has always been number one.Baby won't drink milk

I started childcare counseling 40 years ago, and in fact, this concern is always the first thing that comes up.
As I listen to your stories, I think it is safe to say that most of your feelings come from a parental concern for their child. In other words, worrying about “not drinking” is not a big problem.
I believe that parents have a parental heart that wants their children to drink as much as possible and grow up big, and this is the flip side of that.

Nevertheless, there can be some cause for “not drinking”.
For example, if you are discharged from a maternity hospital and you drank a lot in the hospital but suddenly stopped drinking when you returned home. This is probably due to a change in the environment. The temperature and humidity in the room will be different. In such cases, try adjusting what you wear. Room temperatures at home tend to be too warm for fear of getting cold.
If the face is red or cries unnecessarily, the room temperature may be too high.
And the loss of support at the maternity hospital can also affect a mother's over exertion and fatigue. It is not comfortable to be carried with a scary face.

Baby won't drink milkOther possible causes

《 Breast milk 》
The taste of breast milk may have changed. The meals at the hospital are nutritionally balanced, but if there is a lot of oily food at home, the taste of breast milk may change and the baby may stop drinking.
And as I mentioned earlier, it is common for the mother's milk supply to change when she returns home because she feels tense and uncomfortable due to her responsibilities as a mother.
Try to raise your child with a smile and a relaxed mindset. A mother's feelings are immediately felt by her child, and the unfamiliarity is mutual. Let's explore how to hold and feed your baby together.

《 For milk 》
If the temperature of the milk is extremely different from that of the hospital, such as too hot or too cold, the baby will not drink it.
About human skin level is just right. Check the milk by dripping it on the inside of your arm before giving it to your baby. The nipple hole of the bottle should be neither too large nor too small. Adjust it so that it comes out by sucking just like breast milk.
In the case of formula, the baby may suddenly become reluctant to take milk after three months.
It may happen that the baby's body is fine and normally healthy, but when it is time for milk, the baby does not want to drink it. This is because the baby's body is not accepting the milk. However, if you continue to force the baby to drink the milk, the period of reluctance will be prolonged. and the period of reluctance will be prolonged.
I'm getting enough milk now, so that's fine, please use other fluids. Please compensate for this by giving him barley tea or water. There will definitely come a time when he will drink milk again.

Above we talked about not drinking without any abnormalities in the body, but let's also look at the possibility of abnormalities in the following.

《 If the nose is stuffy 》
Milk debris and nasal discharge may harden and block the air passage, making it difficult for the patient to drink. Please be careful not to forcefully try to remove foreign objects in the nose, as this may damage the inside of the nose.

《 Milk allergy 》
If the baby repeatedly vomits after drinking milk, it may be a milk allergy.
Other symptoms may include diarrhea, bloody stools, and urticaria.
Take a close look at your baby and see what symptoms are present.

《 If you have symptoms other than not drinking 》
In addition to not drinking milk, the child may have other symptoms such as fever or cranky crying all the time.

See a pediatrician if you have any of the above symptoms.

It is a parent's desire for the baby to grow up by drinking plenty of breast milk or formula at any time. But remember that babies are human beings, and there are days when they don't want to drink, days when they are tired, and so on.
Good luck as a mother! I do not say. You don't have to do your best!
If you are in trouble or tired, tell those around you about it. Someone will surely extend a helping hand. Don't hesitate to ask for help while raising your child.
You too will come to be on the side of helping others.
