Nothing to be ashamed of.Hemorrhoids after childbirth

Many people suffer from hemorrhoids during pregnancy and after childbirth without being able to talk to anyone about it. But having hemorrhoids is nothing to be ashamed of.
I would like to explain why hemorrhoids occur and how to prevent and treat them.

During pregnancy, there is an increase in blood flow in the body, especially in the pelvic area, which is greatly altered.
This begins in the early stages of pregnancy, as the body begins to store water in preparation for blood to flow to the placenta. The increased blood volume naturally puts a strain on the heart, causing it to beat faster than usual and to palpitate with even the slightest exertion.
The veins that return blood from the heart to the heart are also overloaded, and venous blood that cannot be returned to the heart may bulge and accumulate in the blood vessels like bumps, and this is called varicose veins.
"hemorrhoid"Warts occur both inside and outside the anus, with internal hemorrhoids inside the anus and external hemorrhoids outside the anus.

  • ✴︎ Internal hemorrhoids do not cause pain and the only symptom is bleeding, which is a bright blood color and may be so thick that it drips.
  • ✴︎ External hemorrhoids, on the other hand, do not bleed but cause severe pain.

The anus also has an elastic tissue called the “anal cushion,” which refers to the area that normally closes the gate tightly and is the muscle under the venous plexus, which is a meshwork of mucous membranes and blood vessels.
The anal cushion is loosened or stretched as a result of the strain placed on the anus by standing or sitting, straining during childbirth, or straining during defecation, and the “anal cushion” becomes swollen and enlarged when the fibers that support the “anal cushion” are cut or otherwise torn.
Also, postpartum women tend to become constipated because of the perineal incision scar and may damage the “anal cushion” by exerting too much force when defecating in order to release hardened stools.

During pregnancy, the pelvis tends to tilt forward to support the growing belly, and after childbirth, the anus is often strained by straining to have a bowel movement and carrying the baby, an environment that can easily lead to the development of postpartum hemorrhoids.

《 As a precautionary measure 》

  • Watch your diet and fluids
It is important to avoid constipation by adjusting one's diet and defecation habits.
Make sure you eat a good breakfast and go to the bathroom at the same time every day.
Fiber, found in root vegetables, legumes, and grains, increases stool volume and softens it.
Lack of water can also cause constipation. 2.5 liters of water is the recommended daily intake, but since it is said that only 1.3 liters of water can be obtained through food, it is important to be conscious of drinking the remaining 1.2 liters of water. If you drink one glass of water divided into 7 to 8 portions, you will be able to take in the necessary amount of water without any difficulty.
  • pay attention to one's posture
A posture that deflects the hips and thrusts the belly forward is hard on the anus. Avoid carrying the baby on your stomach, and use your lower body and abdominal muscles to support your body in a straight line.
People who work for long periods of time while sitting tend to have hemorrhoid symptoms. Sitting posture puts strain on the “anal cushion” and leads to poor circulation around the anus, so stand up from time to time and move your body with light exercise and stretching.
When sitting, try using a donut cushion or similar to create space around the anus and avoid stagnation of blood flow.
  • Avoid cold and stress
Cold and stress can cause blood flow to stagnate, resulting in poor circulation and increased muscle tension.
After childbirth, make time to warm up and relax.
Take a relaxing bath, massage, and warm up the abdominal area to stimulate blood circulation.

Warts and hemorrhoids can cause sharp pain, itching, and discomfort. Be careful not to irritate them more than necessary with a washcloth or tissue during defecation, as this can lead to worsening of symptoms and also cause them to become chronic.

If you have hemorrhoids, you need to keep your anus clean, but washing too much may make it worse. If you are in pain, do not be shy to see a proctologist for advice.
