Product Description
Made from rare cocoons spun by Yamamayuga,
Use silk with a special fiber structure.
Cocoons that have protected larvae from sun, rain, and wind,
Now gently protecting the baby’s skin.
The first touch should be genuine.
Because it’s the first thing a baby wears, baby underwear is very important. What a newborn baby uses first is truly their first touch with fabric. It’s a very important moment for the baby. We want to be extremely careful about what touches the skin of a baby born with nothing on. With this in mind, “Silk no Ubugi” uses Eri silk fabric blended in the optimal ratio with rare silk threads that have a special fiber structure and high-quality extra-long cotton. It offers a comfortable feel, is lighter, and provides excellent UV protection as baby underwear.
Like being inside a cocoon,
Gently protecting babies
To embody care for babies in underwear, we focused on rare cocoons as the material. Instead of typical silkworm cocoons, we use silk made from Yamamayuga cocoons with a special fiber structure, resulting in underwear that is not only comfortable but also lighter and offers superior UV protection. Cocoons that have protected larvae from the outside environment now gently protect the baby’s skin.

Professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture
Representative of the New Silk Road Project | Takayuki Nagashima
Professor Takayuki Nagashima of Tokyo University of Agriculture, who discovered the special silk made from Yamamayuga cocoons, conducts daily research on the amazing functions of insects in the Insect Function Development Laboratory. He especially focuses on the characteristics and diversity of silk, stating, “Silk is not just the one type from the silkworm we commonly know; over 100,000 insect species produce silk. Among this vast variety, I focused on the silk thread spun by Yamamayuga.” This silk thread spun by Yamamayuga is the raw material for this “Silk no Ubugi.”
Because it’s the first thing they wear after birth,
Baby underwear is very important
“Silk no Ubugi” has the unique function of cocoons that protect larvae from sun, rain, and wind.

The best of both
By combining rare and excellent Yamamayuga silk with Pima cotton, which is also low in global production and has a soft touch, in the optimal ratio, we have created even better functions and benefits.
Meticulous sewing
Using soft fabric, the stitching is done carefully with fine stitches. Skilled Japanese baby product seamstresses gently finish each piece.
The tag is placed on the outside so it does not touch the baby's skin directly.
Soft tape is used for sewing around the neck and thighs to avoid any stress on the baby's delicate skin.
By using different ribbon colors, you won’t mix up who to tie it for. It’s considerate for the person dressing the child.
Comfortable to wear with a simple design that's easy to layer.

Use According to the Scene
Change clothes according to seasonal and morning/evening temperature changes. As your baby grows day by day, they’ll return your care with adorable smiles. It’s the happiest moment for moms and dads. We hope these pleasant times continue.
Case 1
Spring or Autumn Indoors and Walks

Layering a pre-all over the usual short undershirt keeps the belly covered even when moving around. This versatile, classic style lets your baby stay indoors and go for a walk nearby without changing.
Case 2
Sleeping

The combo undershirt made of smooth fabric with excellent texture is perfect for sleeping. Combined with a short undershirt, it’s great for regulating body temperature.
Case 3
When It’s Hot

Babies sweat a lot. When the temperature rises, let them wear just one undershirt. For newborns who mostly sleep, a short undershirt is best. If your baby starts moving and you worry about their belly showing, a combo undershirt or romper is ideal.
Case 4
When It’s Chilly

On chilly days, layer a short undershirt with a combo undershirt that covers the belly. Over that, it’s recommended to dress your baby in a pre-all outfit that can also be used as outerwear. You can add a vest or more layers depending on your baby’s condition.
Easy Care
Even with a silk and cotton blend fabric, it’s okay to wash in the machine if placed in a laundry net. Since these are everyday clothes, you want washing to be easy. Yamamayuga silk, which is strong against washing, is a mom’s ally.
"Silk Newborn" as a Birth Gift
When you receive happy news, the first recommended gift is underwear. Babies are born wearing nothing, so we want to be very careful about what touches their skin. The hybrid fabric of silk and cotton in "Silk Newborn" is made in Japan and perfect for gifts.
We received comments from experts

Dermatologist|Kazumichi Maruyama
What we want in baby clothes is gentleness on the skin and good moisture absorption. Newborn skin is very delicate, so this silk with excellent moisture absorption is very good for the skin. Please dress your baby in this carefully selected natural material.

Pediatrician|Akiko Ogawa
Babies with high metabolism are always sweaty, so breathability is important. This silk newborn wear is a special silk, making it very suitable for babies. It’s also great for moms that it dries quickly after washing. Just wearing the newborn wear provides UV protection, which is reassuring during walks.

Midwife|Yoko Nanbu
Babies sweat surprisingly much. Their metabolism is active, so they need frequent outfit changes. They may need washing several times a day! For their delicate skin, we want you to choose high-quality silk products and premium cotton materials that absorb sweat without stickiness and do not irritate.
Supporting Cambodia
〈 Silk Newborn Eco Cycle 〉
Yamamayuga silk is currently a very rare raw yarn, making it a very expensive thread. If we can make this wonderful yarn more accessible, we can create comfortable, safe clothing not only for babies but for everyone. By supporting Cambodian farmers, where many trees favored by the Yamamayuga moth still grow, we can make this silk more accessible. We believe this is an important mission that benefits not only us but also supports Cambodia.
As a token of gratitude from everyone who purchased "Silk Newborn," we would like to donate a portion of the sales to support Cambodia.
